Good winters in the south east of England are few and far between. Snow is rare, and far from guaranteed, but frosts are still common. Every now and then, a ‘beast from the east’ will pass through and a familiar landscape is transformed. It’s these rare, but rewarding conditions that make the wait seem worth it. When winter strikes, it is my favourite of the seasons, and maybe it is because we are never guaranteed a good one, that when we do I cannot wait to get out with the camera.
